Matt Scammacca Memorial Fund for Addi & Ayden

Our hearts are heavy in sharing the sudden passing of a dearly loved father, coach and friend, Matt Scammacca. Matt was a fixture at Placer United Soccer Club for 21 years, where he coached, developed and mentored many youth athletes. His impact was wide-reaching as he also coached at Del Oro High School, Sierra College and Yuba College. Matt was always ready to greet every person he came to know with his infectious smile. He was part of a unique soccer family at Placer United, dedicated to developing the next generation of athletes and took an interest in his players’ development on and off the field.

Anyone who knew Matt knew his most cherished role was that of Addi and Ayden’s dad, who were also known fixtures at Placer United games, sidelines and trainings as players and Matt’s kids. Any one of us who had the pleasure of hanging out with Addi and Ayden during games and tournaments came to love them like family. Matt’s dedication to his role as a father was obvious; from shuttling to training and games, coaching on the sideline and radiating the kind of pride that is appreciated by a parent watching their children grow and mature.

We will never be able to comprehend such a loss for Matt’s family. It is our hope that we can unite as a community and donate as we are able, to support Addi and Ayden as they embark on a new life knowing their dad is cheering them on from a new sideline. Our goal is to provide these funds as additional resources and support for higher education, whatever path they choose. Matt, Addi and Ayden are forever held in our hearts and we will keep them in our prayers always.
