Help Matt rest-up after surgery and move to BC
Donation protected
It’s with a heavy heart that we have begun this fundraiser for Matt Hertzberg who underwent surgery Sunday November 5th after a stray piece of metal lodged itself deep into his right eye. This terrible accident led to emergency surgery where the piece of metal was surgically removed, along with surgical repair of the eye itself.
This comes at a time when Matt has committed to end his residence in Ottawa and move out west to live with his girlfriend, Chelsea. Not only does surgery (and the time it takes to recover) hinder Matt’s ability to prepare for this move, it will also impede his ability work. As a self-employed contractor/carpenter his source of income will become dramatically interrupted, compounded by the complexities of moving across country.
Matt's plan for his upcoming move was to pack his truck with all of his belongings and drive from Ontario to BC. This endeavor is now certainly in question as there are many unknowns with respect to the outcome from the accident and the time required to recover.
Matt is a strong, courageous, and stoic individual who has the ability to overcome this challenge and make the best out of such a terrible situation. That said, as his friends and family it falls on us to recognize when a good a member of our community is in need of help. Now is the time for us to show Matt that we are there for him and are steadfast in our support through this challenging time.
We ask for your help putting together whatever you can in financial support to help Matt. This fundraising effort will ensure he can continue with his goal to relocate Out West, and to focus on rest and recovery without a financial burden weighing heavily on his mind.
