On 24 August 2018, Matt had an accident with a young green horse during a training session. The result was an open book pelvic injury with cracks in the pelvic ring as well as a fractured sacrum. The surgery went well - two long screws stabilizing the sacrum and four screws with a stabilizing plate on the front of the pelvic ring. Matt is currently charming the nurses at the hospital PT ward. We are hoping to have him home in a couple of weeks to start the long road back to a full recovery. While we can only guess at what expenses we are facing in addition to medical bills at this point, making the house wheelchair accessible is the first thing on the list. The doctors say up to a year before he is riding again... we shall see! Several individuals have contacted us asking for gofundme account information so they can help to support Matt while he is in recovery. We greatly appreciate the support shown to this point and are reminded at this time how many people Matt and his horse crew have influenced over the years.
