The holiday season can be difficult for many and not always very enjoyable. But if you know Matt Lara, you know that Christmas Eve is one of—if not the—most special days of the year for him. His home is usually filled with laughter as family and children pile in, arms full of food and gifts.

This year, however, the holiday season feels much heavier. Matt and his family have faced a sudden and serious change in his health. Matt has been hospitalized at the University of Iowa since Monday and is facing a long recovery that will require him to remain there for several weeks. During this time, his family and children have been traveling back and forth while staying in motels to be close to him.

If you know Matt, you know he would do anything for anyone—but he has always struggled with asking for help himself. If you are able to help during this time, it would be deeply appreciated.
