Matt (Hank) Haglund’s Recovery

Friends and Family,

As some of you may or may not have heard, my brother Hank (Matt Haglund) was involved in an accident on Saturday, August 19th on Lake Minnetonka.

He broke his neck in several areas, which is going to cause him to miss an extended period of work and a long road to recovery.

We would like to try an ease some of the financial burden and give him this time to focus on healing throughout this journey.

Hank’s spirits have been good during his time in the hospital. Our family would also like to thank all of those who have called, texted, or visited him in the hospital. It means so much to him and our entire family!

Keep the texts coming to Hank, he loves all of you. When he’s able to come home, please stop by to keep his spirits up!

I’ll be providing updates here as we find out what the next steps are on Hanks's road to recovery.

Just want to start by saying thank you to everyone who has reached out, prayed for, and donated to Hank!

Hank had to pass a PT test this morning that included walking and other such movements of the body to be released, which he did pass. He was released from Southdale around noon today (08/22/2023) and then went up to see another specialist at HCMC.

At HCMC they looked at his previous scans and x-rays along with doing a few of their own, and concluded that surgery would not be needed nor would a halo!

He will be in a neck brace for the next 12 weeks with a check-up at the 6-week mark for more X-rays. In 12 weeks he’ll go back in and see if the brace can be removed or not.

Al Michaels “Do you believe in Miracles” was my thought when hearing the news.

We’ve heard from several doctors how fortunate he is to be able to move everything and avoid what could have been a much more severe injury.

As we’ve all heard from our parents and friends before “Don’t push people off the dock or dive in shallow water” is something that really hits home now and has opened my eyes and I’m sure plenty of others too.

Hank is now at home, feel free to swing by whenever. Just give him or I a heads-up beforehand, if possible.

Once again thank you everyone for everything.

Much love y’all!
