Matt Brass was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma. It is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that originates in the bile duct area near the liver. It has now spread to his bones, lungs, liver, and multiple lymph nodes. There is no cure for this type of cancer. Matt’s plan is to fight with chemotherapy and radiation to quiet down the cancer cells and to pray they find a cure in the meantime.
Our hearts and heads have been reeling since The Brass Family shared Matt’s recent cancer diagnosis. We ache for their entire family - Matt has been their steady anchor through many storms in the past, and he is now approaching this battle with the same quiet strength. I don’t know a more generous and kind-hearted family with such genuine love for our Lord and Savior. Matt and Stacy both have servant hearts and they have passed on that trait to their four amazing children. It is obvious that their love and generosity have reached many, many people by the number of extended family members, friends, co-workers, fellow parishioners, and school & basketball families who have been reaching out to them asking what they can do to help. This is why we have decided to create a GoFundMe Page for those still looking for ways in which they can assist them in their time of need. Our hope is to provide them with the funds to help cover any extra costs that this nasty disease may be causing them. That might include medical/prescription costs, travel costs for treatment or doctor’s visits, extra childcare, and costs they may incur in the future to best enable them to help care for Matt. We also want to ensure that they have the resources to create beautiful and lasting memories as a family and live each day God gives them to its fullest. You can donate through this Matt Brass Fighting Fund GoFundMe page, by using Venmo & sending your donation directly to Stacy’s account @Stacy Brass, or by sending your donations and well wishes to the family at 5000 Country Hill Rd, Lincoln, NE 68516.

More than anything, I know that Stacy and Matt would greatly appreciate your prayers! Please lift their family up in prayer daily - for comfort, healing and strength and for Matt’s medical team! Cancer is ugly and vicious, but it is no match for a family of faith! One day at a time....one moment at a time.....Jesus We Trust in You!
