Help Matt Penny kick cancer's butt

Meet Matt. Matt is a young, super fit, construction Project Manager. Immigrating to Australia just over 8 years ago, Matt recently became an Australian Citizen. He met Sam 5 years ago on a ski trip in Europe. Sam then moved from the UK to Australia to be together. They recently got married and call the Northern beaches home. 

In his spare time he loves to be outdoors and can generally be found surfing, biking, running, or all three together in triathlon events. He is warm, and loving, and makes his friends laugh.

The world needs people like Matt.   

In December 2017, Matt and Sam found out they were pregnant (yay!) and on 14 June this year they welcomed baby Freya into the world.  

Unfortunately on Christmas Day last year, a week after finding out they were to become first-time parents, Matt & Sam were in a hospital emergency ward and discovered that Matt had Advanced Metastatic Bowel Cancer. Matt underwent immediate chemotherapy treatment rendering him unable to work.

By the start of 2018 he commenced aggressive Chemotherapy to ensure they were dealing with the spread in his liver and stomach, as well as the primary tumour in the colon.

Treatment options continue to be explored. Likely next steps will be further chemotherapy, a mix of radiation, a number of specialist surgeries and possible vitamin infusions, clinical trials and whatever new medical research suggests.  They’re in it for the long game.   

Matt and Sam are tackling this challenge head on with hope, positivity and their unconditional thirst for life.

They now need all the support they can get. Funds raised will provide support to Sam & Matt during his treatment and the care of baby Freya.
