Hello and thank you in advance for your time, attention, and support. We’re raising money to help our friend Matt Stapleton and his two roommates, who wished to not be named. On February 2, 2026, a fire broke out in their apartment building in Brooklyn, starting in the apartment directly below theirs. Fortunately no humans were injured or killed, but the building has been rendered uninhabitable, and most of their possessions were destroyed. The entire apartment suffered damage from the flames, smoke, water from the firefighting effort, and also the firefighters destroyed most of the furniture in their necessary actions to contain the blaze. Matt’s room got the worst of the damage, but all three roommates were affected. Unfortunately they did not have renters’ insurance, so they are left to rebuild on their own. Many of their possessions are irreplaceable, but they need things like clothes, furniture, etc., and that all costs money. This terrible fire happened to them by no fault of their own, and as their friends, we would like to ask our community to come together and offer some support for them to put their lives back together.
