Matt and Angie Belitz family

As many of you know, Matt Belitz was diagnosed 4 years ago with behavior variant frontotemporal degeneration (FTD), a form of dementia. Angie had to make the decision to move him into a memory care unit, in Lincoln, in November of 2021. They chose Lincoln because it had the services Matt required at the time. Over the past 3 months, he has declined significantly and was placed on hospice last Friday, July 14. As is associated with FTD, he has developed a progressive Parkinson’s-like effect with weakness, tremors and increasing difficulty speaking and swallowing. He is still in the memory care unit in Lincoln, but is on a waiting list to move closer to Angie so she and the kids can see him more frequently.
Their oldest, Tyson, is in his final year of PT school. Cole just graduated from nursing school and starts a job in July. Garret is a junior at Wayne State College. Their daughter, Mallory, will be a senior in high school this year. They have all been going to see Matt as much as possible, but it has been difficult due to the distance from home and trying to continue to work and go to school. There are so many of us that want to help and aren’t sure what we can do other than prayers, so a group of us from both Matt and Angie's PT school classes decided to start a GoFundMe for Matt, Angie and their children. While we can all continue to pray for all of them, they could also use our financial support to help reduce one stressor during this challenging time. The money will help pay for gas, time off from work and the increasing medical and living expenses for Angie and all 4 kids.
