Please pray for a miracle for Matt Houk.
He suffered a massive heart attack November 3, due to an arrhythmia.
He is currently in the CICU at Tufts, on ecmo, intubated.
We are hopeful and thankful that his CT scan looks promising.
The doctors said that Amanda’s CPR saved his life.
We are just in a time of waiting and letting his body rest and heal in the hands of the best medical team and in the hope of the powerful healing of the Lord.
We know there are people all over the world praying for him and Amanda. And both of them will really hate this, but here’s a snapshot of who they are:
Matt and Amanda are the hands and feet of Jesus in their small corner of the city.
They are bi-vocational, working at their church and both in full-time special education.
This is how Amanda knew how to perform CPR - she works with medically fragile students.
They are involved in ministries in every corner of the city. Including corners that most of us would consider ourselves too pristine to enter into. For the safety of the people they minister to, Matt and Amanda never talk publicly about it. They just serve quietly, and share the love and hope of Jesus intentionally.
They are on the board of Ruth’s Way, a local sober home for women.
They do foster care for troubled teens.
Any extra money that comes to them, they give away.
I’m sitting with my sister at her husband's bedside and she says to me, “When we get through this we are going to start a CPR ministry. I’ve already talked to one of the medics that came when I called 911. He said I could share my story and then he’d teach it for free. Wouldn’t it be a great thing for people to know how to save lives?”
And I know all the right church answers to the following question but I find myself asking Him,
“Them?? These are the people you are choosing to put through the fire?”
Salt and light.
Matt and Amanda. ❤️
