Milford had an INSANE rainfall in a short amount of time last night. Matt and Marla live in a slightly below-ground apartment with a patio that is walled in with concrete. Last night, a literal river of water rushed down the hill behind their complex and filled their patio to the BRIM (3-4 feet high).
It got to be too much for the patio door, which busted out of its frame, sending an un-Godly surge of water into the apartment. The patio door itself was sent all the way down the hallway. You can see in the pictures how high the water got throughout the entire place; up to 18 inches.
It destroyed their couches, TV, 2 beds, and other furniture. It upended HUGE appliances like their fridge and washing machine. The water was well above the bathtubs. Matt had to bust in the front door to save the three dogs and one cat that were inside. With the front door open, the hundreds of gallons of water rushed out, taking everything that was on the apartment floor with it, through the parking lot and into the city drains.
Regular renter's insurance does not cover flood damage. They lost everything and it isn't covered at all.
These are two of the most kind hearted people I’ve ever met, it’s our turn to take care of them. ❤️
