Matt Adams Spinal Recovery
After an accident at the pool in June of 2021, Matt suffered a severe spinal injury. He spent just under a month in the ICU, stabilizing his medical condition. Just after his 17th birthday in July, he moved to a rehab facility to begin his full recovery process. Since being there, he has regained a lot of strength and has begun doing tasks independently. Soon, Matt will return home to continue his recovery and readjust to living at home with his family.
Matt most misses surfing, life guarding, and spending time at the Surf City Firehouse, where he is a volunteer firefighter. The day of the accident, Matt finished his junior year of high school at Southern Regional and was looking forward for all that senior year was to bring.
Those who know him know that his positive attitude will help him make great progress in his recovery. Matt and his family are so grateful for the continuous support they've received from the many communities Matt has impacted in his 17 years. Many have asked how they can contribute and the family wanted to set up a singular place for those trying to help. Any little bit helps as expected and unexpected expenses begin adding up. Thank you as well to everyone who has reached out during this difficult time!
Through all of this, the continuous support from family, friends, the community, and everyone in between has helped Matt's recovery and keeping his spirits high!
