Matias Roude's Medical Care- Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On Sunday, August 23rd, our dear friend Matias Roude was out on the lake with his friends. It started raining and he accidentally fell off the boat. Unfortunately his head collided with the moving boat propeller. His friends were able to spring into action and wrapped his head with a towel until the paramedics arrived. Immediately the paramedics made the decision to airlift him to ORMC- a trauma hospital in Orlando.
Matias underwent an emergency brain surgery in hopes to repair his skull and reduce the bleeding & swelling in his brain. At this point, most head injuries turn fatal. The surgery is one of the most crucial parts of any head injury.
His head was split from the top of his nose all the way back to the nape of his neck.
It is nothing short of a miracle that he survived that 6 hour brain surgery. I want to take this time to thank all the Surgeons, Nurses, and hospital personnel for saving Matias.
We are well aware that this horrific accident could have had a much more permanent and fatal outcome. This accident immediately affected all of us and we are so grateful that he is alive today.
Unfortunately, Matias has an extremely long road to recovery ahead of him. His wife, Shayna, is currently furloughed due to COVID-19. And now she will no longer have his income for support.
They have a very sweet 2 year old daughter, Mila. We are asking for financial support- not because the family requested it but because so many have asked how they can help. It will be near impossible for her to pay the mortgage and all of the bills on her own. And we can’t even imagine how much medical bills will be costing them in the near future. Especially, because he was airlifted to the hospital.
Shayna and Matias are the sweetest family and are known for their hospitality and kindness in their friendships. Neither would hesitate to give you the shirt off their back. They have had to cancel their wedding multiple times because of the Coronavirus and now they are dealing with this traumatic accident.
Every dollar counts and I know they will be so incredibly grateful for any help at all.
We will keep this page updated as we continue to gain more information on Matias’ condition. They will be slowly conducting tests to gauge his cognitive abilities, memory changes, motor skills, etc. Please keep him in your prayers. We need a speedy recovery so he can get back to his Wife, Daughter, and Family.
