We are very remorseful to announce that our family suffered the very tragic loss of Matthew Lightsey on June 2nd 2022 in a car accident. We appreciate all the love and support of those who have reached out and all the kind words expressed. Mathew was an amazing 22-year-old young man who was an extremely talented performer, singer, writer, and composer. He was committed to living life to the fullest and making those around him laugh.
Mathew was passionate about theater from a very young age. His creative projects included Dennis in All Shook Up, Charlie Brown in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Scoop in The Heidi Chronicles. He was especially proud of being the Co-Writer, Director and Cast member of The Composer’s Melody at the South Shore Theatre in Lindenhurst, NY. He was excited for people to see his first major project come to life at the South Shore Theatre where his acting career began. He earned nominations for both the Kennedy Center American College Theater Irene Ryan Award and Music Theatre International Award. Just this week, he was expected to receive his Screen Actors Guild card, one step closer to realize his dream to perform on Broadway.
He has touched the lives of so many people and will continue to do so. Many friends shared that he was a caring friend and counseled friends through challenges. He leaves behind his Mother, Father, and 3 brothers. In order to help the family, cover the final expenses, we are arranging this campaign. All proceeds raised will go towards Mathew’s final expenses. Anything that is raised above the final expenses will go towards an acting scholarship in Mathew’s name. We look forward to supporting other upcoming artists. Thank you again for everyone’s outpouring of love!
