Matheaus Family: Tragic Start to the New Year
Donation protected
We begin each new year with the hope that it'll be better than the last. Unfortunately, that's not the case for the Matheaus family. Gary, Rachel, and their three sons are in desperate need after Gary fell from their roof while taking down the family's Christmas lights and broke both arms. To make matters worse, Gary is the sole provider for his family and has no insurance. Now, the family is struggling to meet expenses for basic needs.
I've known Gary and his family for quite some time as he's worked as a subcontractor roofer for our tiny roofing company over the years. Besides being an extremely hard worker and committed to his craft, he's a wonderful human being who goes out of his way to help others. The last few years have been difficult for us all with pandemic shutdowns, COVID diagnoses, a decline in business, etc. Through it all, Gary steadfastly overcame the obstacles put before him and worked to support his family and responsibly provide for their needs. But this terrible event has stopped him in his tracks.
Gary's a very private person. So, I don't have a photo of him and his family to share. I thought he might decline when asked if I could set up a Go Fund Me page for him. Reluctantly, he agreed...he's truly up against the wall. He'll certainly have some steep medical bills from this event as his injuries required surgery on both arms. However, right now, I'm raising money to assist him with his family's basic living expenses (lodging, utilities, food, fuel, etc.). We're praying hard that he'll be healed and good as new in a couple of months. But, until then, he needs help.
I know it's a difficult time right now and so many people are in need. Any amount you can give will certainly help and be so very appreciated. The collected funds will go directly to Gary, allowing him to focus on healing and not have to worry about his family being without food or utilities, or worse, being evicted. Please help me to bring some positive light into this family's life after a disastrously dark start to this new year.
Thank you so much!
