We all make choices in life and usually have to live with the outcomes. But when you're only 7-months old, you have no real choices other than trying to eat, smile and grunt. Mateo has no choice now other than to fight for his life & he doesn't even know how to walk yet. Around 220 days into his life, little Mateo was diagnosed with cancer in his kidney; a malignant tumor.
Todos tomamos decisiones en la vida y por lo general tenemos que vivir con las consecuencias. Pero cuando tienes sólo 7 meses de edad, no tienes verdaderas opciones más que tratar de comer, sonreír y gruñir. Mateo no tiene otra opción más que luchar por su vida, él ni siquiera sabe cómo caminar todavía. Alrededor de 220 días de vida, el pequeñito Mateo fue diagnosticado con cáncer en el riñón; un tumor maligno.
Because of the cancer (stage 2 Rhabdoid Tumor) Mateo had to have one of his kidneys removed. Mateo has already gone through a MRI, Bone and CT scans, and countless labs. Mateo had to have a chest port (tubes) surgically implanted in his heart in order for them to administer the chemo. The little bugger isn't feeling so great, but he's putting up a great fight! Luckily he is a naturally happy kid; just look at his picture! :) This really says it all about him.
Debido a este cáncer (Tumor Rabdoideo Etapa 2) a Mateo se le tuvo que remover uno de sus riñones. Mateo ya ha pasado por una resonancia magnética, tomografías computarizadas, y un sinnúmero de laboratorios. A Mateo se le tuvo que poner un puerto en el pecho (tubo) implantado quirúrgicamente en su corazón para que se le pueda administrar la quimioterapia. El pequeñito Mateo no se siente muy bien, pero está poniendo una gran batalla! Por suerte, de naturaleza él es un niño feliz; basta con ver su foto! :) Esto realmente lo dice todo acerca de él.
The family has been devastated, but is fighting hard to give him every chance to beat this terrible disease. As many know, this costs into the hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight. Fortunately Stony Brook Hospital has been generous, but there are still other bills to be paid while stopping everything to help Mateo fight for his life. The family has limited resources to fight such a HUGE battle financially. We need to help offset costs that are continuing to grow...
