In humility I write this.
Two and a half years ago, deep grief found me. I went to the only place I knew to look for answers: the Cross. Between prayers and tears, the Word of God became alive. I no longer felt alone in my suffering. What I discovered was a living God, and the realization that I had barely scratched the surface of a Book so deep.
Around the same time, I invited four close friends to join me in intercession, thinking it would last a weekend. Two years later, we are still gathering every morning at 5:30 am to intercede for those we know and love.
What began as prayer for a friend with stage four cancer, unfolded into something that felt like a modern-day book of Acts. We watched marriages restored, families reunited, addictions broken, bodies healed, and babies conceived where none were thought possible.
And we are still at the shore.
With these stories came a quiet realization for my life: ministry was happening, often between coffee shops, couches, and hospital rooms. I had already begun pursuing a long-held dream of returning to school to complete a Master in Theological Studies—not to "understand" faith, but to be equipped. I believe God gives intellectual curiosity and calls us to love Him with both heart and mind. When harder questions come, and they will, I want to be ready to give a reason for my faith.
Life and finances required me to pause, but I now feel called to begin again this spring. Westminster Seminary Online has graciously offered me a $5,000 matching grant toward my tuition, meaning every dollar given will be matched up to that amount.
Asking for help doesn’t come naturally to me, but I’m learning there can be humility in it. If you feel led, please give as much or as little as you are able. And regardless of your ability to give, please send me a text so I know how to pray for you.
With love,
Jess
