Help Matcha recover from animal abuse

Hi,

My name is Franco and in late 2022 i adopted two wonderful kittens from the same litter named Matcha and Marcel. They were (and are) the most amazing thing to happen to me. Matcha especially is the cuddliest most loving cat i’ve ever come across and I feel lucky to be on the receiving end of her love every day.

On Sunday January 27th, 2024 while I was out of the apartment I received a call from my roommate saying that Matcha was limping. He had told me that the night before he had thrown her against the wall because he was upset that she had scratched him while he was cleaning her paw. He had told me that after she ran away, he went after her, grabbed her by the tail, and threw her against the wall. He didn’t tell me until the day after as he thought she would recover. After taking her to the ER, x rays showed that she had a fractured hip, broken ribs, and fluid in her lungs. She is currently at the Pet ER in Hunt Valley MD where she is still awaiting surgery as her vitals aren’t strong enough to go through anesthesia yet. There is an ongoing animal abuse investigation. The vet bills so far have been astronomical and even after spending thousands already, surgery is looking to be an extra 6-8 thousand. If her kidney values don’t stabilize as well she might have to be taken to U Penn for kidney dialysis.

I have covered everything I could and maxed out whatever credit cards I have just to make sure my baby is ok but at this point I am out of financial options. My roommate has no assets or money he can give. I plan on bringing him to court but even then I know I might never see his money. I just want to be able to save my cat that I love more than anything in the world and for her to be back at my side.
