Eagle Project: Playground Remodel
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Masyn Buchanan, I am a Boy Scout with Troop 513 of Sugar Hill, Georgia.
Presently, I am at the rank of Life Scout and am a candidate for the rank of Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank in scouting. Less than 5% of all Boy Scouts reach this pinnacle, as it requires dedication, focus and a high level of commitment.
Among the many requirements of becoming an Eagle Scout, one of the most critical and challenging is to plan, manage and complete a service project that will benefit an organization in my community. To meet this requirement, I have selected Family Promise of Gwinnett County as the beneficiary of the service project.
About Family Promise of Gwinnett County
Family Promise of Gwinnett is a nonprofit organization that provides temporary housing and other services to homeless families throughout Gwinnett County.
Family Promise of Gwinnet County has a Day Center, which provides a place for families to receive social worker services, do laundry, and search for jobs. The Day Center also has a playground, which provides a safe place for children of homeless families to play.
About the Service Project
The Family Promise Day Center playground is in need of repair and could benefit from an expansion which would provide an area for toddler aged children to play. This is the basis for my service project. With all the work to be done, the cost has been estimated at $2,200.00. An outline of the repairs, remodeling and expansion activities to be included in the service project are reflected below.

Next Steps
The fundraising phase of my service project will continue through the end of May. In June and possibly through the first of July, I, along with my scout leaders and scouts from my troop will perform the work needed at the Family Promise Day Center Playground.
Please donate to this much needed community service project. I, along with the children serviced by Family Promise will be forever grateful.
Yours in Scouting,
Masyn
