Creating A Seat At The Table

Donation protected
We launched The Master's Craftsmen to create a seat at the table; a place for men to belong and families to connect.

Men...
Men in their prime working years are increasingly absent from the U.S. job market: More than 7 million of them aren’t working.   In Rockaway Beach, where our first shop is located, unemployment is at a startling high rate at 55%.  We can change this!

Families...
Growing up, some of my greatest memories were at the  dinner table.  We laughed, cried, shared life, and talked about the future.  No matter what changed around us, we could always look forward to the dinner table.  Unfortunately, we live in a world where the family dinner table is an exeption, not the norm.   We can change this!

Why men?
Research cited by Focus on the Family shows that when a mother comes to faith in Christ, the rest of the family follows her example 17% of the time.
When a father comes to faith in Christ, the rest of the family follows his example 93% of the time.

If we can help these men develop the job and life skills they need to thrive, we can change families, communities, cities, states and nations.

"Observe people who are good at their work— skilled workers are always in demand and admired; they don’t take a backseat to anyone.” (Proverbs‬ ‭22:29‬ ‭MSG‬‬)

Approach
The Master's Craftsmen will operate a one-year apprenticeship program for eligible young men ages 18-24 who are underemployed, receiving unemployment benefits, and/or residing in transitional living homes. The program, offered free of charge, will connect apprentices with shop teachers and mentors who love God and are highly skilled.

So what will we provide?
Education- learning the life and job skills necessary for success
Equipping- Access to technology, tools, and resources to do the job
Empowering- walking alongside so the men experience true community and the power that emerges when we participate in life together.

Finally....
Richard Foster well said, "Our tendency is to overestimate what we can accomplish in one year, but underestimate what we can accomplish in ten years." It takes a long time to make a disciple and we're committed to creating a seat at the table..a place for men to grow and families to connect.
