MICHÉLE RAMO (pronounced: Me-KEL-ay)
has played 46 years of guitar, violin, mandolin - carried and loaded, set up, played and broke down equipment for thousands of gigs. His shoulders are tired, in pain and now we know on his left shoulder, a rotator tendon is deeply torn and barely hanging on.
The 46 years holding his guitars, playing violin and carrying equipment has taken it’s toll.
After giving immense joy to so, so many with his musical magic, Ramo now needs your help as he goes through surgery in mid January to repair this injury, and the time needed to heal completely and peacefully so that he may return to bringing pure joy through his music.
RAMO will likely be out of work 5-6 months and has been out of work since early December as the pain was too great to play any longer. Everything has been canceled for now. Ramo is a like a bird who flies - the bird must fly. Making music is Ramo’s pure nature - and only source of income.
Fascinating history: Ramo is a proud and true Italian-American. Born in Sicily and raised in a small Sicilian village of Costiera - he grew up with sheep, goats, grapes and olives near the fishing port of Mazara Del Vallo.
It is an amazing story of a boy who nobody could stop.
For, it was his natural destiny.
He started as a young kid playing guitar with the barbers in his little Sicilian village - he soon entered conservatory on Violin and finished a 10 year program in five years….he started violin at 13 1/2 yrs old and in a mere 3 1/2 years was youngest in Italy’s history to win a position with a state symphony orchestra at 17 yrs. of age…and before finishing his degree. By 25 yrs of age he left the secure orchestral life to pursue his music further in the United States jazz world. He left with a few bucks and violin (his guitar was stolen in Florence on his trip to The Untied States), he spoke no English language and landed in Detroit.
Ramo has always been a leader, creative and an individual artist -mentoring, hiring and helping hundreds of musicians.
He is a humble Master Musician with a huge heart, always willing to share his impeccable training, musicality and experience.
Now back in the Great Lake State of Michigan….years were spent in a tiny apartment in NYC where he and his wife singer/lyricist Heidi Hepler-Ramo were not only non stop performers - but animal rescuers.
Not only did they help musicians in need, they have rescued many, many animals off the streets and continue to adopt senior animals in need. All this shows the enormous heart of Michéle Ramo.
Put that love into his music - and he is a Mostro!
With humble gratitude…..
Thank you and Blessings for anything to help to pay monthly bills, medical & feed our ‘Ramo Band’ of animals.
With Love,
The Ramo family
