Master Jimmy Y. Kim passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023. He was surrounded by his wife and children, his parents, his sisters and family members. For over one year, Master Kim had been battling an uncommon and aggressive autoimmune disorder called Dermatomyositis which primarily affected his lungs.

Although Master Kim is best known as the 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist, his contributions over several decades as an athlete, Olympian, instructor, coach, mentor, and martial artist touched countless lives in the Taekwondo community.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lauren, and his three sons, Nathan, Noah, and Nicholas.
