Fire Burns Down Animal Barn, Random Lake, WI

Massive fire burns animal barn to the ground in Wisconsin. Barn a complete loss.
On 03/09/22, at 9:40 am, Sheboygan County Sherriff’s Department was contacted regarding an animal barn on fire. Firefighters from nine departments were dispatched to the fire. The barn is deemed a total loss. One miniature paint horse was in the barn at the time. She was quickly removed from the dense smoke-filled stall barn, minutes before the flames started. All other animals were outside at the time. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths occurred. Unfortunately, the barn was mine.
Hello… my name is Cheryl Scholz. I created this Go-Fund-Me profile to raise money to help rebuild my barn and to raise attention to how important it is to go through homeowner’s insurance policies on a regular basis, to make sure the amount of coverage is going to be sufficient to cover today’s costs to rebuild. I wish I would have done that!!!
My insurance coverage is $10,000, less a $1,000 deductible. My insurance will pay $500 to remove the burned down barn material. The first estimate for this is $3000. I know $6500, is not going to go very far to rebuild a barn. I have been looking into the costs and I do not have enough funds to properly rebuild. The new barn will not be as nice as the one that burned down, but with some creativity, cost and design comparisons, I should be able to rebuild a good home for my animals with an additional $6500.
My life is devoted to providing for my pets. I enjoy caring for them and loving them. It makes me happy being able to provide a nice place for them to live. I have had a very special connection with animals since childhood. My animals are mainly rescued pets. They are as follows; three miniature horses, ages 7, 15, two standard size horses, ages 22, 27, three goats, ages 1, 8, five miniature Juliana pigs, ages 4, 5, 7, 12, one rabbit, age 4, and five dogs, ages -1, 8, 9, 10.
In July 2022, I will be 61 years young. I was married for ten years, divorced in 1996 and never remarried. I realized at that time; I was better off focusing more on “animal husbandry”. I have lived on my own for over twenty-two years. I am a mother of one child, who is thirty-one years old. Four years ago, I moved my mother into my home shortly after my father pasted.
My household is supported only with my income. During the previous 25 years, my annual gross income has been only between $18,ooo - $28,ooo. I have worked third shift for fifteen years, because I enjoy being home during the day with my animals. Before my mother moved in, I worked full-time, in addition a part-time job to help ends meet. I work at a local community based residential facility (CBRF), as a resident assistant. Over the years, I have learned how to trim horse feet and over the years have learned to do basic veterinary work myself to help save money.
I normally don’t ask for help, but this time is different. My beloved pets have lost their shelter from the storm, and they can’t ask for help themselves. They remain confused, depressed and displaced. They need your help! Everything was destroyed in the fire. I must start over again. Not just rebuilding, but also replacing everything that was in the barn.
