Massachusetts Modern Music Retreat
Donation protected
The goal of the Massachusetts Modern Music Retreat is to fill a hole in the musical scene of Central Massachusetts and provide musical opportunities for emerging composers and artists. While the arts in Massachusetts are relatively thriving and well-funded, there is a serious lack of modern music in the central region of the state. This organization aims to be accessible for those looking for a festival experience. With the rising costs of festivals, musical opportunities are out of many students’ price range. Student-led programs can be as fulfilling and enjoyable as professional institutions.
This 12-day program will involve composers and performers working closely together on a daily basis, guest speakers, and the exploration of local New England culture and nature.
The final outcome of this Modern Music Retreat will be to produce 2-4 free to the public concerts that feature new music for mixed chamber groups, music written for solo instruments, and small chamber groups. Participants will leave the Retreat with new world premieres, recordings, live performance experiences, and national networking opportunities.
The money raised through this GoFundMe and grants will support students who cannot participate without financial aid. This aid goes to basic items such as food and flights.
There is no profit from any money raised, and all funds will go directly to increasing the accessibility of the program.
