In 2024, at just 7 years old, Mason was diagnosed with Grade 3 Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, an extremely rare and aggressive brain cancer affecting fewer than 3% of children with brain tumours in the UK.

Mason underwent major brain surgery, followed by months of intensive chemotherapy. Against all the odds, he faced every challenge with incredible courage, never losing his smile.

Mason is also autistic, making the constant hospital stays, procedures and disruption to his routine even more overwhelming. Yet he has continued to inspire everyone around him with his determination.

After treatment, Mason reached 470 precious days without cancer. His family finally began to believe they could move forward.

Then everything changed.

Recent scans confirmed the devastating news that Mason’s tumour has returned. It resisted chemotherapy and has started growing again.

In the next few weeks, Mason will undergo his second brain surgery. Once he has recovered, he and Carly will have to leave their home here and travel to Manchester, where they’ll spend 6–8 weeks while Mason receives specialist radiotherapy.

Being away from home for such a long period brings enormous emotional and financial challenges. Carly has had to put her own life on hold to care for Mason full-time. Living away from family, friends and their support network means additional travel, accommodation, food, and everyday living costs, while also trying to keep a brave 9-year-old entertained, comfortable and smiling through the toughest chapter of his life.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help ease some of the financial pressure so Carly can focus entirely on what matters most—being by Mason’s side as he faces brain surgery, radiotherapy and the long road to recovery.
