Mason's Fight Against Lymphoma -- Round 2
Donation protected
You may remember last September when I reached out asking everyone to support our favorite 11 year old, Mason Dearth, who had been recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Over three months Mason garnered an overwhelming amount of support from so many and heroically beat cancer into remission December 2023.
Unfortunately, just three weeks ago, he and his family learned of his Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin's Lymphoma relapse and a new course of action was set. In this short amount of time our sweet, funny, video-game-expert-smack-talking, Duke-loving, now 12 year old, has already suffered through 2 surgical biopsies, CT and PET scans, a port placement procedure, so much blood work, and his first two rounds of immunotherapy. This battle looks a little different from the last as after he completes two different types of immunotherapy and is confirmed to be in remission, his biggest challenge awaits. Mase will have to undergo a high does chemo treatment followed by a stem cell transplant, which will put him (and his mom, Elizabeth) in the hospital for at least 3 weeks, followed by anywhere from 3-12 months recovery time post-procedure, including ongoing immunotherapy for about a year.
While life was finally returning to normal for Mason and his family, they are now faced with a new, more intense battle that's scheduled to last much longer than the first. Any support you could once again extend our chosen family would sure help them through this costly time of ongoing trips to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, long periods of time away from work, medical expenses, etc.
With his "kick ass mentality" and the support of his loving family, friends and community, we know Mason will once again be triumphant against Hodgkin's Lymphoma. As his mom keeps saying, please pray for strength...for everyone attached to "our Mason" (a.k.a, my Masy Mas and the Funky Bunch). Thanks so much for your consideration.
Love,
Our Mason Strong Tribe
