Hello, everyone.
This little man is a true fighter known now as Mighty Mason. I am his great uncle Ed looking to help his family get through a difficult time.
Mason Roach is a seven-year-old energetic boy who loves the world.
He has an older sister and a younger brother with two loving parents. Typical Canadian family.
Last year his Mom embarked on a quest to become a real estate agent. She had to balance family life, work life and studies to achieve her goal. In May 2016 she became an agent. Was not long before she secured a listing and within a month a sale and three more listings.
on August 24th Mason was brought to the urgent care for what was thought to be a fractured leg, after X-rays and blood work we were sent home with no answers. On August 25th we received the phone call that results from a blood test the night before showed Mason may have Leukemia and we were to head to Children's hospital right away. After more tests and a bone marrow aspiration a couple days later it was confirmed Mason has Leukaemia and has to undergo chemotherapy immediately". Imagine getting the report of your little boy. Everyone was devastated. His parent stayed with Mason and he was battling cancer and taking treatments. Mom had to stop her real estate activities with substantial income reduction.
After the first month of chemotherapy, Mason did not hit remission as expected and was bumped to high risk. Now starting a more intense phase of chemotherapy. If he did not hit remission after this phase he faced a bone marrow transplant. Doctors stayed very optimistic while still preparing us for either path.
Mason has suffered many side effects from treatment like drop foot and not walking since diagnosed, weight loss from lack of appetite and nausea losing 20% of his body weight and needing a feeding tube, 10 blood transfusions the last month and a half along with other common effects like losing his hair and most of the time he was in the hospital and not allowed to go home.
With parents being by his side since this journey began on December 23, 2016, Mason was declared in remission and allowed to go home for Christmas.
The journey is far from over for Mason, his parents and all the people like me who love him and his family.
We support people and families in need here in Canada and in the rest of the world. This family is a true candidate for our help to get them through this difficult time. Let us support them by donating to this well deserving family.
Thank you.
