At approximately 8:18 p.m. Thursday, Unified Police responded to a call of a traffic accident with injuries near Jackson Street and La Salle Drive in Midvale. Despite first responders administering lifesaving measures, the individual, identified by police as 23-year-old Mason Snowball of West Valley City, died on scene, according to a press release from the Unified Police Department.

An initial investigation found that Snowball had sustained a gunshot wound, and a homicide investigation was initiated.
