My name is Launi Johnson and Laura was my soul sister. This page is in support of her son after Laura Hendricks passing.

Laura passed away on July 30, 2025, after a two-year battle with cancer. In June 2023, she was diagnosed with a very aggressive breast cancer, which metastasized to her bones in 2024, and in June 2025, the cancer had spread to her brain. We all knew Laura as the friend with a big smile and a “snort”, and she was always looking to make people laugh. It brought her joy and it was effortless on her part. She managed to have moments of laughter over the past two years, even while she underwent chemo and radiation treatments. The past few months, she had been in and out of the hospital multiple times with low labs, dehydration, infections, with significant amounts of pain over the last month. Many people may not have known any of this, due to the fact that if you asked her how she was doing, she would always say, “I’m fine.”

Her passing has been a shock for all of us, but the person that will be most impacted throughout his life will be her 11-year-old son, Mason. The emotional aspect of experiencing what he has been through is traumatic enough. I thought if we came together as family, friends, colleagues, & community, maybe we would would be able to relieve some financial burden in his future. We can help him reach his hopes and dreams, whether it’s college, military, trade schools, or to be an artist, singer, actor, doctor, who knows what his future holds. All I know is, he will suffer enough emotional loss and to not have such a financial burden, would make me feel better about his future.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 3:00 pm. This will be in a barn located at 4860 Paint Horse Trail, Orcutt. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to this GoFundMe, set up for her son, Mason. These funds will not replace Mason’s mom, but could help be an extension of what Laura would have been able to provide for Mason in his life. Any donation is appreciated and the family wanted to thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.
