3/31/20 update from Dr. Brown
Dear donors, volunteers and friends,
First, I wanted to say thank you. Thank you from all of us at Masks of Love - WNC. What started as a desperate attempt to be part of a solution is coming to fruition, and we could not have done it without all of your support.
Let me tell you what we have done so far. We have assembled an incredible group of individuals who have varied skills from professional sewing, engineering, pediatrics, community organizers, to PR and more. We have raised over $15,000, and have partnered with the Dogwood Health Trust, who without hesitation, jumped in to support Western North Carolina. We have set up our social media streams to be able to communicate with our community which allowed us to recruit our professional and home sewers, volunteers, resource materials, and deliver patterns and more. We are also taking orders for professional and citizen masks and have an elaborate sanitizing and distribution process to get these were they are needed. The money raised through the Gofundme drive will pay for materials and labor. 100% of these funds will be turned back into our community.
50% of all masks will automatically be donated to those in need. This ranges from our healthcare workers and first responders on the front line, to homeless shelters, medical missions, clinics for the underserved and more. The other 50% will be distributed based on need to our community, with suggested donations which will allow us to continue to produce masks for as long as they are needed. Those who cannot afford masks, will be given masks, without question.
So far, we have gotten hundreds of requests for masks. We are currently in production, and have masks rolling in every day. In the next few days we will begin to ship them and deliver. Thank you for your support!!
