PPE for All -Masks & PPE for our frontline workers

As you know, we are in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic and Canada and the USA are facing a MAJOR SHORTAGE of medical masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE).

Our healthcare workers are being asked to stretch what's left of their PPE, while other essential workers continue their jobs without any protection at all. President Trump has recently asked 3M - the world's leading manufacturer of N95 masks - to halt their exports to Canada. 

Our fellow Canadians and Americans are risking their lives every day on the front lines and we will not sit back and watch them continue to go without protection. 

This is where this GoFundMe campaign comes in.

Brass & Unity works with a packaging factory that has the CAPACITY to produce up to 1 MILLION MASKS A DAY - both surgical and KN95-compliant. 

We have been contacted by numerous hospitals to assist in the production of these masks. The problem is, we'll need the funds to do it. 

If every person reading this could contribute just $1, we would hit our goal of $15,000 to produce our first shipment. We are prepared to commit to producing masks for as long as countries need them. This includes Canada and the USA.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We've been asked a number of questions since this campaign first began, so we thought we would put together an FAQ section here. Hopefully, this will give you more clarity about how your donation would be used. If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

1. What is the turnaround time for producing these masks?
- 1 million to 1.2 million surgical masks a day OR 
- 500,000 KN95 masks a day

2. Will these masks be compliant with production standards (ie, would hospitals be able to use them?)
- YES and YES! We also have the paperwork to support this. 

3. Where will these masks be produced?
- Our packaging factory is located in China. China is currently a major supplier of surgical and KN95 masks to Canada. Vancouver General Hospital, for example, gets its masks directly from China.
- They are professionally produced in a sterile clean room, with workers fully covered and protected while operating the machines.
- All masks are sterilized again after being produced, before they are packaged. Many masks being produced within the country are NOT following these procedures as they are pop-up temporary solutions. The goal here is to prevent the spread, and without the sterilized conditions, use of masks that are not properly produced could cause more harm than good.

4. What will you do with the first $15,000?
- $15,000 will let us produce over 100,000 surgical masks. We recognize that we won't be able to produce these masks at its usual market cost-per-unit (because we are not 3M, and even at full capacity, 3M won't be able to supply enough masks for everyone who needs one). Desperate times call for desperate measures. We hope you understand!
