Sewing for Lives Campaign
$1 = 1 mask.
The more we raise, the more masks we can send to health care heroes in the United States and Spain over the next few weeks. Our goal at the moment is 600 masks! Any amount you give today helps.
Background:
Hospitals across the world are fighting COVID19 without masks, gloves, and/or gowns. Even with private donations and government provisions, protective gear supply has not kept up with the rapid spread of COVID-19. It's no surprise that health care workers are sick at higher rates than those of us quarantining at home. Many are dying.
While it's important for the rest of us to be socially distant at home, THERE IS A WAY TO HELP!
OUR SOLUTION:
My aunt Nolvia, who is a seamstress by hobby and also managed a hospital in Honduras for over 20 years, has volunteered her time and skills to make fabric masks for hospitals who need them. The masks will provide health care workers with 35% protection from virus germs. Our hospitals are in crisis and at this point, some protection is better than none.
We've sent our first batch of 100 fabric masks to hospitals in Madrid and New York City. We hope to continue sending fabric masks to hospitals, nursing homes, and/or homeless shelters in areas that desperately need them: Madrid, New York City, D.C., Detroit, New Orleans, and Los Angeles.
I donated the materials from the first batch, and will need help funding additional mask donations since the virus shows no signs of slowing down.

God bless all healthcare workers devoting their time and effort to help treat this illness, even if it means putting themselves at risk. You're the world's MVPs.
