Masjid Al-Wasatiyah Wal-Itidaal is registered as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization since 2010. The Masjid opened the current location, 5727 Hoffman Ave, Philadelphia PA 19143 on August 1, 2011. The area formerly housed abandoned and rarely opened auto body shops, an unlicensed night club and the parking lot. Every square foot of the adjoining parking lot was littered with waist high trash, old tires, and served as the unofficial neighborhood dump.

The night club and the parking lot was the location of numerous criminal activities which included drug dealing, prostitution, casual sexual activities, and a murder. The neighbors lived in fear with each approaching weekend.

With the help of Allah, the members of the masjid pooled their funds and purchased both the parking lot and the night club. Contributors included small business owners, laborers, housewives, retirees, students, and a variety of well-wishers.

Alwasatiyah seeks to raise $50,000 to complete the first phase of the renovation work on the former night club building to be able to serve the community as noted above.
