Maseeh Muhammad - Forever Saadiqa's Prince

Donation protected
We, the artistic village of our sister, actress/writer/creator Saadiqa Muhammad, are reaching out to ask for your support in the wake of the unexpected, tragic loss of her dear and only beloved son, Maseeh Muhammad.

Almost 20 years ago, Saadiqa moved from Chicago, IL, to Los Angeles, CA to live her lifelong dream as an actress. She didn't come alone. She brought her young son, Maseeh, and created a new life for them in LA. On September 4th, Maseeh left his home to take the family dog, Kiwi, for a brief walk. After the walk lasted longer than usual, Saadiqa went in search of Maseeh, and his father Djuan, who recently relocated to California, followed. Maseeh lived with Autism which gave Saadiqa, a courageous single mother, a heightened sense of awareness when it came to her son's movements. It didn't take long for her to follow the innate urge she had to look for him.

Saadiqa and Djuan met their worst nightmare on their search for Maseeh. Their son, Maseeh, (and Kiwi) had been fatally struck by a Metrolink train. In an incomprehensible scene, Maseeh was pronounced deceased at approximately 6:37 pm by LA County officials, in Santa Clarita, CA.

As you can attempt to imagine, Saadiqa and Djuan are enduring unspeakable pain and trauma.

In addition to love, emotional and spiritual support, we hope to relieve the heavy financial burden that has accompanied the sudden loss of her child.

Saadiqa has a long journey ahead. She is an amazing independent artist, as well as an educator and motivator but can not work consistently, at this time. With the ongoing SAG/AFTRA (of which Saadiqa is a member) strike, the occurrence of little work means there will be an even greater need for financial support. Saadiqa had recently booked a play in Chicago prior to Maseeh's transition and the goal, for her healing, is for her to continue with that assignment.

We want to support her healing journey by raising enough money to cover her immediate expenses including exorbitant transportation costs from California to Illinois for burial as well as cost of living expenses (including nutritional and therapeutic needs) for as long as needed.

Maseeh was a kind, smart, unique and beautiful soul whom Saadiqa pushed to be the greatest he could be, encouraging him always, toward his highest aspiration. In anticipation of his upcoming birthday, Maseeh was focused on creating an online platform, a place where people could come together and experience a true sense of belonging.

We want to be able to support her in all efforts to preserve and expand the legacy and memory of Maseeh Muhammad.

Some comfort can be found in knowing that Maseeh was surrounded by the constant love of his family beginning with his mother Saadiqa, his father Djuan, both his grandmothers who transitioned prior to Maseeh, his grandfather Dr. Muhammad, his aunt Zakiyyah, his uncle Farid, his cousins and Saadiqa's artistic community and village along with Maseeh's friends. We thank Allah we were all chosen to be blessed by Maseeh's presence and in his path at this time and in this space.
