Hey y’all! It’s ya boy John!

 

I am reaching out to all of you to ask for a huge favor. I’ve collaborated with an amazing writer named Naomi Williams and written an original screenplay titled “Mascing the Truth.” Short films are no joke y’all and the last thing I’m gonna do is the bare minimum just to save a coin. I believe in this work and I want the finished product to reflect that.

 

“Mascing the Truth” follows the story of a young gay man who is learning how to navigate the dating scene while battling the rejection of femininity in the gay community. He is a young fashion designer & local drag queen who is on the hunt for true love. However, he gives into the “masc4masc” culture in order to make potential relationships work. I won’t give away too many details, but this story is filled with comedy, drama, romance, and some tender moments that will really grab your heart.

For those who don’t know me, I am a professional actor making a transition to another side of the industry. I have been involved with the performing arts since I was 13, beginning my career in Phoenix, Arizona. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to perform in professional productions in New York City, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Denver, and even Tokyo, Japan. I have been very grateful for every opportunity and I’m ready to see my career move in other directions!

 

This film needs an estimated $12,500 to see it come to life. I am asking for $10,000 and I will fund the rest. Filming is planned to take place over a span of 3 days.

 

Where are those funds going?

 

$2,400 - Director

$1,500 - Sound

$2,250 - Cinematographer/Camera Operator

$3,000 - Crew Members (Lighting & Equipment)

$3,000 - Actors

$300 - Meals

 

My goal for “Mascing the Truth” is to have a full cast and creative team of BIPOC queer artists. By supporting this work you are supporting them, and empowering them to continue to put important work into the world. Being a gay Black man with a story to share, I feel it is my duty to uplift as many queer & BIPOC artists as possible.
