Hi! My birthday is coming up (May 4). As a highly attention-seeking person I love my birthday, but this year I want to redirect some of that attention towards an issue that is very important to me. My family and many of my loved ones are immigrants- although it has never been an easy time to be an immigrant in the United States, it does feel like right now is an especially fucked up and scary time. I know a lot of people feel overwhelmed by the state of the world and don’t really know what to do to make things better but one very simple thing you can do to make things better is direct action- for example, giving money directly to people who need it. Super Familia King County is a mutual aid group that raises funds for local undocumented and unaccompanied immigrant youth, and for my birthday I am making a gofundme to raise funds which I will send to super familia. I will match donations up to $250.
