To the strongest warriors God gives the greatest challenges. I've known Mary Margaret McCutchen since she was a twinkle in her mom, dad, and sister's eye. Mary was raised in a loving Catholic Family who has devoted their lives, both mom and dad, to serving our country in the Air Force, and she is a newly wed. You may know Mary from her company, the Brides Maids' Walking Tours of Charleston, South Carolina where she whisks future brides and brides maids about historic, charming, picturesque Charleston as they take in the beautiful sites while pondering the charms of Southern home life and begin building the vision for their own one day.
We all want this dream and Mary has been the champion of so many others' happy beginnings, we want that for her too. Let's help Mary achieve her dreams of that lovely life that was put within our reach by the sacrifice of her family in the service of our country.
Mary has been diagnosed with Stage 2b, HER2 negative, breast cancer. Her port was placed just a few days ago, chemotherapy begins Monday. While she does have insurance, co-pays are high. Once chemo is completed and treatment typing is done, this will determine the type of surgery she will require after 4 cycles (24 weeks) of chemo. These are the things to keep in mind as we comtemplate her needs, she will be immunocompromised while taking chemo, so working with the public may not be possible for a while.
When I go to the grocery store, I will be thinking about what Mary may need and try to match that, or when I pay my utility bill, or when I purchase a piece of clothing. My coffee runs will be with thoughts of Mary too, wondering if I could spend that extra money toward her bills, any little bit will help face the costs of the medical expenses or daily life expenses I know she will be facing.
This is the year Mary will be stronger, braver, kinder, unstoppable, and fierce! Let's help Mary win this fight against breast cancer!
