Hi, my name is Summer, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my beloved cat, Mary. She’s 18 years old and has been with me since I was 14. We’ve grown up together, and she’s been by my side through every chapter of life.
This past week, I noticed Mary’s appetite had decreased. She seemed a little disinterested in food, which was unlike her. Then yesterday, I realized she looked thinner than usual. I tried to feed her, and while she ate a little, she ended up vomiting. She later ate some dry kibble on her own and vomited again—something she sometimes does when she eats too fast—but this time felt different.
As the day went on, she threw up two more times. Her stomach began to contract, and I could see she was in pain. Soon after, she began leaking diarrhea uncontrollably. I rushed out to get her electrolytes, broth, canned food, and her favorite toppers and churu sticks—anything to make her feel better or just get something in her. But she turned everything down. I could see it in her eyes—she wasn’t okay.
We went to the vet today. They gave her fluids, anti-nausea medication, something to boost her appetite, and a pain reliever. Thankfully, they were able to stabilize her. They sent us home with the same medications to continue care. However, they strongly recommended a full lab panel and ultrasound to figure out what’s going on internally.
Unfortunately, that would have brought today’s bill to over $1,000, which I couldn’t afford in the moment. I had to decline the additional diagnostics, which broke my heart. Even without them, today’s visit still totaled $500.
Right now, I’m doing my best to keep Mary comfortable and plan to take her back for the lab work as soon as I can. The hardest part is not knowing what’s wrong. If there’s a chance she can recover or at least live out her time comfortably, I want to give her every opportunity to do so.
It’s difficult for me to ask for help, but I also can’t bear to see her suffer. If you feel moved to donate or share this, it would mean the world to me—and to Mary. Every little bit helps.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, or supporting in any way.
With gratitude,
Summer & Mary
