Aloha Friends and Family-
On October 21st, 2021 Mary, Chas, and Wolf’s lives were turned upside down when during a physical Mary was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Mary has been in the Navy serving her country for 10 years and was ecstatic to be picked to become an officer, her commissioning was scheduled for March 2022. What was meant to be a routine checkup ended up drastically changing their lives when her bloodwork came back unusual.
Just 2 days after her diagnosis she was on a plane to Washington DC from her home in Hawaii where she was admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center to begin her aggressive Chemo treatment. After her first week of treatment, more tests were run revealing a further rarity and complication in her Leukemia. It was decided that the best course of action would be a clinical trial at MD Anderson hospital in Houston, Texas.
The last 6 weeks have been nothing short of a whirlwind. We are thankful for the swift action and amazing doctors and nurses who have gotten Mary the care she needs to best kick this cancer’s ass.
However, the uprooting of their lives from Hawaii to DC and then to Houston in support of Mary’s treatment has been taxing, as they are still trying to make their family whole by getting the furry family members to their current residence. We are talking of course of their 2 beautiful puppies Squat and Achilles, who have made it to California where they are being taken care of by a trusted dog sitter.
A testament to the amazing people Mary, Chas, and Wolf are, there have been a number of requests to contribute to a GoFundMe to help cover their costs of shipping their cars from Hawaii to Houston, getting Squat and Achilles home, and the many costs of uprooting your life.
We want to assure everyone that we know this GoFundMe is during the Holidays when funds can be tight as is, so we appreciate any contributions you can comfortably make but also keeping Mary and her family in your prayers is greatly appreciated.
