Mary's Fight: From Accident to Cancer Care

Hi,

My name is Mary. I was in a really bad car accident on April 2, 2025. At the time of the accident, my dog ran out of the car. Everyone at the scene tried to get him. He kept circling the ambulance. I begged them to open the door, but they said they couldn't. So, he was lost for 2.5 days. With the help of my wonderful friends Nikki, Alan, and Rich, and the community of Potterville and Charlotte, he was found and brought home.

Having my accident warranted a body scan to make sure none of my bones were broken. Thank goodness I came out with just a lot of bruises and sore muscles. Also, a broken car. Thank the Lord. There was something they found that I would have never known I had until maybe it was too late. They found an 8 mm stone in my right kidney that I needed to have surgically removed. They also found a mass in my left kidney, so they had to take a biopsy and an MRI to see what it was. It came back that I have stage 1 kidney cancer. The accident was a godsend. If it wasn't for my accident, I might not have known until it was too late.

Because of the accident, I am scheduled to have the tumor removed, and possibly my entire left kidney. Which is good; I can live with one healthy kidney. But this warrants surgery, which means I will have to take an unexpected leave from work for up to 6 weeks, possibly more. This has me stressed and needing help. I don't have much paid time off from my work to cover my time off, and short-term disability will not pay all my bills. It will help, but not fully. This is why I'm asking you to look into your heart to help donate to pay medical bills and household bills, if you are able to. The medical bills are starting to come in, which is stressful.
