Sweet Mary Kate Funk was diagnosed with ATRT, an aggressive and rare form of cancer, in April 2020. During this challenging time, Ryan and Alli have shown so much strength, grace, and faith to get their family through this and make the best decisions for Mary Kate's health. I know we have all been inspired by their strength during this journey.
Tragically Mary Kate began having seizures and her cancer began to quickly progress, especially over the last few weeks. Mary Kate has been such a strong little warrior for 8 months fighting this battle, and her little body is too tired to continue fighting. Ryan and Alli have worked closely with MK's amazing team of doctors to exhaust all treatment paths, and were forced to make the difficult and selfless decision to keep her pain-free and comfortable for the rest of her time here with us.
Mary Kate, who will be 2 on Thanksgiving Day, is SO loved and has had such a happy and beautiful life in her short time with us, and Ryan and Alli are feeling strong and ready to give her back to the Lord to be in our hearts from heaven.
This time of grief ahead will come with many hard days, months, and years for the Funk family. They have a lot on their plate and need to look after their other 3 beautiful kids, Joseph (9), Grace (7), & Julia (5) who love and adore their sister Mary Kate so much.
Many of you have asked how you can help the family in this weird time of Covid, where they are unable to accept the typical love and support from the community. I've setup this page for any contributions you would like to make to the Funk family in order to help support them. Contributions will be used toward funeral expenses, fun (covid safe) trips with the kids, food delivery, etc. to take added stress off of them during this time. Any additional money will be contributed back to a charity specifically for families battling cancer.
