Our beloved Maryhelen Hernandez has unfortunately passed away after suspected hospital neglect. If you know her, you know she was the friendliest woman ever. Always chatting away and laughing. She was the bravest woman I have ever met and fought for her health her whole life. She was a cancer survivor who also battled paralysis in all of her limbs, kidney failure, high blood pressure and hypoglycemia. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and partner. In these past few months she was making progress in her health and was regaining limited movement in her limbs.
She was admitted to the hospital on 09/13/2020 with complaints of respiratory issues. Before she left to the hospital that day, my dad and I (which were her full-time care takers) reported that all of her vitals including blood pressure and glucose levels were checking out fine. After a couple days in the hospital, Maryhelen was brought back home in a worse state than she left. The hospital sent her home with glucose levels so low she was in a severe hypoglycemic coma. By strong recommendation of her primary physician, she was sent back to the hospital where she went into ANOTHER hypoglycemic coma and sadly passed away a few days after.
This fundraiser is to help my dad and I raise funds for unexpected costs and bills. Any kind of donation is very appreciated to help us get back on our feet during this heartbreaking unexpected loss.
