Marybeth Adams-Khoury’s Support
Donation protected
On May 2nd, Marybeth underwent surgery for a one-day routine gallbladder removal. Following this surgery, Marybeth was discharged the same evening. However, she was not herself immediately after the procedure ended. She was incredibly lethargic, unable to move, and had difficulty understanding things. Marybeth did not remember how to use her phone or know what her job was, and her husband, Paul, knew something was incredibly wrong.
Thankfully, without waiting any longer, Paul urgently brought her to be transported by ambulance to Beth Israel in Boston. It was there they discovered that Marybeth had suffered a Hemorrhagic Stroke. After multiple tests and procedures, we are still left with no reason for exactly why this happened.
After a week-long hospitalization, she is now undergoing rehabilitation to regain basic speech, motor, and physical skills that she lost overnight. Marybeth has been diagnosed with Global Aphasia, which has affected the language part of her brain. She has been working as a Pediatric Nurse for the past 25 years, a Clinical Instructor at the Northeastern University School of Nursing for 10 years, and a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Brockton Neighborhood Health Center for 5 years.
Marybeth’s life goal, that drives her passion for nursing, has been to help everyone she encounters. She has always been a giver, to those that she knows and does not know, and now it's our turn to give back to her. Any donation, big or small, would go a long way in helping her recovery and supporting her family, including her husband Paul, daughter Kaitlyn, and son Patrick, during this challenging period.
We understand that Marybeth's recovery will be a long road, with extensive rehab continuing even once she is brought home to her family. She has found motivation in listening to the lyrics of Andy Grammar's song "Don't Give Up On Me," and is determined to persevere in her recovery. We are grateful for your kindness and generosity as we support Marybeth and her family during this difficult time.
“‘Cause I'm not givin' up I'm not givin' up, givin' up No, not yet Even when I'm down to my last breath Even when they say there's nothin' left So don't give up on me.”
