Maryann Brady Scholarship
Maryann Brady, our friend, teacher, and colleague, unexpectedly passed away this summer. Maryann had taught in the Tyngsborough School System for thirty-seven years as a Spanish and French teacher and she strove to educate Tyngsborough students in foreign languages and the culture of those countries, and to make the study of language an equivalent of Math, Science, English and Social Studies.
As a department head and mentor leader, she worked to incorporate the study of Foreign Language and World Culture to the Middle and Elementary Schools. Maryann wanted Foreign Language study to be real and relevant, and for Tyngsborough students to gain communication skills that would allow them to succeed in the real world.
Accompanying this in-class experience, Maryann expanded the foreign travel opportunities offered at Tyngsborough High School. Organizing trips to Central America and Europe, her students could experience and be immersed in both the language and the culture. As an advisor and chaperone on these trips, Maryann always cared for the students (and other chaperones) of Tyngsborough like they were her own children.
To honor the memory, legacy, and efforts of Maryann to expand the opportunities to study Foreign Language in the Tyngsborough Public School System, the faculty, former student, friends, and family are establishing two annual scholarships for students at Tyngsborough High School in her name with The Tyngsborough Scholarship Trust as the the fiscal agent. Please consider giving to this worthwhile cause to honor our friend and mentor Maryann Brady.
