Maryann- School Crossing Guard

Hi, My name is Steven Makropoulos, and I'm fundraising for our Crossing Guard Mary ann.

On Sept 19th, a driver struck Mary Ann Anifer, the beloved Conrady crossing guard who has worked her crossing post since 2010. The driver was quickly apprehended several blocks south of the incident. However, Mary Ann suffered a severe broken leg and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. Two days later, Maryann had to undergo a second surgery. She spent approximately three weeks in the hospital. Furthermore, Maryann had to undergo two skin grafts. Doctors told her that she was lucky that she did not lose her leg. Currently, she is unable to walk; however, with continuous physical home therapy, she will prevail. . I talk to Mary Ann almost daily, and she is always asking how the students are doing and that she “loves each and every one of them.” She is very optimistic and is determined to make a full recovery so she can go back to, as she said…. “Keeping her children safe.”
