Mary's Club Vandalism and Pandemic Recovery Fund

Asking for help is difficult for most of us and this was a very tough decision to make.  We know it seems as though everyone is asking for money and donations these days. So many are struggling. So many small businesses are closing or on the verge of closing. Mary's needs your help. Our customers and employees have been loyal to us for so many years and we are working hard to keep our mighty club afloat. Since we were able to reopen on June 19th, we have continuously been hit with unexpected expenses. Our famous neon sign has been vandalized twice in a month and is very expensive to fix. The most recent incident was done by someone armed with a brick and violently attempting to break in while employees were still inside.  Business is so slow that we are not even breaking even for regular expenses most days. Our tiny bar can only hold so many patrons inside and with the distancing and other guidelines we are under right now, we have very little room to accommodate even a fraction of our usual crowd. Slow business will pass, but the vandalism and other unexpected repairs have proven to be impossible to avoid and very difficult to pay for.  Many of you know my mother and our owner, Vicki. She has poured her whole self into Mary's for 40+ years. She is devastated at the thought of her livelihood, and the livelihood of so many employees being threatened after all of the work she has put into Mary's for more than half of her life. For decades, she sacrificed a lot of herself and solely ran the club all while raising a family as well. She doesn't ask for help. She just doesn't. Tracy and I have had to practically pry responsibilities from her hands just so we could make things easier for her over the last few years. Seeing and hearing her heartache right now is unbearable.  We understand and respect that everyone is experiencing a hardship during this pandemic.
