Mary Tackett: A Final Resting Place with Love

As many of you know, our beloved Grandmother Mary Tackett (Bunny to most) went home to be with the Lord on August 19th, 2025. Mary had a long fight with dementia, and after a severe blood clot, she unfortunately lost her battle. Mary was by far one of the strongest women you ever had the pleasure of knowing. She had 8 children and adopted 3 more, who were her nieces and nephew. Then she went on to raise MANY of her grandchildren. No matter the circumstances with her children, she NEVER failed her grandkids. She lived her life for her grandchildren.

In 2021, Mary lost her husband of 39 years. A year later, she lost her 10-year-old granddaughter, whom she had raised since birth. If you knew Mary, you knew the impact this had on her. A short time later, she lost her home, a home she had lived in for over 35 years. From this point on, her health declined significantly; dementia worsened, she had a nerve disease, and eventually blood clots. Not much time had passed before she had to deal with death again. Mary lost her two oldest sons, just 6 short weeks apart from each other. Mary then lost her sister and brother-in-law, who passed 1 week apart from each other. Eight months later, she lost her niece. All of these deaths had a significant impact on Mary's health. Her heart was broken. But yet, every day, she would still joke and make everybody laugh and smile.

Mary has lost so much, and we want nothing more than to give her the burial she deserves. Mary's wishes are to be buried with her husband, as she had planned. Unfortunately, Mary lost her life insurance policy. Even if all her family were to pitch in, due to the prices, it still wouldn't come close to what we will need. Please, if you find it in your heart to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate, a prayer and a share would also be appreciated, as this is a significant loss for the entire family.

I wanted to elaborate on why Mary lost her life insurance. After bypass surgery, Mary was placed in a rehabilitation center for 2 short weeks, just so she could learn to use her leg again. During this time, Mary was receiving horrible neglect. We tried to have her released after two weeks, but they refused. They claimed due to her dementia, she had to stay there. We were threatened with APS (Adult Protective Services). They said we could not take her early due to them wanting to receive her insurance money. Unbelievable, right? After 5 long weeks of fighting and seeing her be neglected, we signed her out AMA (against medical advice) and took her to the ER, where we then decided to bring her home on hospice. The facility had taken Mary's SSI. We tried to get it back, but God had other plans. Mary lost everything: her family, her home, her income, and her life insurance policy. And after providing for two separate funerals, she was left with nothing towards her own. All donations will go directly towards funeral expenses.

We will miss your gentle soul; your legacy will live on forever.

Fly high, Mary.
