Mary Moton’s Medical & Life Expenses
Donation protected
On Sunday, March 3, 2024, our Mother, Mary Moton, was the victim of a tragic shooting that occurred on 54th Street and Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mary was letting her dog outside when neighbors down the street from her were arguing, which eventually led to an exchange of gunfire. Mary was shot in the back of the head.
Miraculously, Mary survived her injuries from the shooting. She will forever live with a bullet in the back of her head; the bullet is lodged in the back of her skull and is unable to be removed without fear of causing more damage than repair.
Because of this, Mary faces significant medical care that will likely last for the remainder of her life. Mary is a cancer survivor and her existing medical conditions, including significant heart problems, will likely be impacted long-term as a result of her injuries. Medical professionals are also concerned about the impact this situation will have on her mental health, and she will likely face symptoms of PTSD for the remainder of her life.
While there are still so many unknowns, what we are certain about is that life is precious and it is a miracle that our Mother is still here. Medical professionals and law enforcement alike have expressed their disbelief as to how our Mother has survived this tragedy. Our family is devastated, but we are grateful and blessed that we still have her here with us.
We are raising funds for the significant, unexpected medical costs our Mother has incurred and will continue to incur with her treatment. We also hope to eventually relocate our Mother, as we fear that her neighborhood is no longer safe or habitable for her. Funds will ultimately go toward our Mother’s medical and living expenses.
Our family sincerely appreciates the prayers, love, support, and generosity we’ve received as a result of this tragic situation. God Bless!
