Aloha friends-

As I'm sure you all have heard of the devastation that occurred in Lahaina last week. I have been a friend of Mary Mishima for decades. Unfortunately, Mary's home has burned to the ground as well as her husband's, son's and daughte's vehicles as seen in the photo above. She barely escaped the fires as the lot next door was aflame. Also in her household was her husband, her daughter, son-in-law, and her 3 grandchildren. Thank goodness they all are fine. Mary has the biggest heart of anybody I've ever met, and here's an example: In the face of her own immediate tragedy, she still is thinking about others. Previously Mary donated her time to a 95 year old permanent resident at The Whaler by doing his laundry, help paying bills, etc. At the time of the fire, she took it upon herself to go rescue the gentleman, and took him with her to safety. He currently is staying with Mary's son in Wailuki along with 10 of Mary's family. There are other GoFundMe pages that were created for employees of The Whaler, however Mary is an independent contractor who's worked there for 30 years. I've started this GoFundMe specifically for Mary and her ohana (family) to assist in this time of immense need. If you'd like to help Mary's family, any donation amount will be appreciated.
