Mary Margaret Trant Nursing Scholarship

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart and deepest regrets we announce Mary Margaret Trant, degreed RN, a precious daughter, cherished sister, and beloved friend of Stoneham, MA, has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly the morning of January, 10 2021 following a tragic car accident at the age of 21.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Stoneham, MA. She is loved dearly by her parents, Daniel & Margaret (Meg Gebhard) Trant, and cherished by her older siblings Samantha (Trant) Kelly & Chris Kelly of Lynnfield, MA. and Emily Trant & Fiancé Devin McCarthy of Stoneham, MA and her dearest dog Teddy.  She is survived by her adored maternal Grandparents Leonard J. & Margaret (Peggy) Gebhard of Melrose, MA and her predeceased paternal Grandparents Robert P. Trant & Mary F. Trant of Stoneham, MA. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends who loved her dearly.

Mary lived and experienced more in her short life than most people could in an entire lifetime. Early on Mary recognized her purpose was to help others. After graduating Stoneham High School in 2017, she went on to enroll as a Nursing student at Salem State University and had recently completed her EMT training. She knew helping others was how she wanted to spend her life’s work.

Mary’s determination and willpower to provide the best care for her future patients allowed Mary to recognize many academic and occupational achievements. Around the family home, Mary was often called out as “Nurse Mary”.  Mary’s gentle touch, calming voice, intelligence and compassionate nature led her to become an extraordinary nurse. According to her accounts, many patients at local hospitals were so satisfied with the level of care they had received they would often request her by name. These comments humbled and assured her that her commitment to rigorous medical training was impactful to others and going to make a difference in the world.

Mary genuinely wanted to help others as a Nurse and to honor her passion, the family has established a Non-Profit Nursing Scholarship in her name to help financially assist future local Nursing students that are as passionate and driven about helping people as Mary was. In Lieu of flowers, the family welcomes all to donate to the ‘Mary Margaret Trant Nursing Scholarship’.
